Dirk Nowitzki’s name misspelled on jersey

After more than 50,000 minutes logged, 30,000 points scored and one NBA championship won, Dirk Nowitzki has fashioned a career that almost all NBA fans can recognize.

But it seems the Mavericks’ jersey maker was not one of those fans.

Technically, that means Nowitzki didn’t cross 50,000 minutes. “Nowtkzi” did, right?

The report did clarify that the Lakers haven’t abandoned hope of landing top-end free agents this year, but have become increasingly interested in the 2019 class, which could include Jimmy Butler, Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard.

The Lakers already possess a potentially strong young nucleus with Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart, Julius Randle and reserve guard Jordan Clarkson. The Lakers likely won’t keep them all moving forward, but having another year to flesh out which ones they want to build around could be beneficial.

Sitting at 21-31, 11th in the Western Conference standings, Los Angeles could also add another highly-touted player in the 2018 NBA Draft. Though the playoff seem unlikely this season, the Lakers’ future seems bright with so many young players paired with possible big spending.

Los Angeles (22-31) is coming off a 112-93 home win over the Suns, its third straight victory. In Tuesday’s win, the Lakers’ defense held Phoenix to under 40 percent from the field. Scoring from Brandon Ingram (26 points), Julius Randle (21 points) and Kyle Kuzma (16 points) led the way for LA’s offense.
